I-295 Fayetteville Outer Loop
Cumberland County, NC
Branch was part of a Joint Venture (JV) team that constructed this freeway bypass project south of Fayetteville to improve traffic capacity and increase safety in the region. The project included six miles of new I-295 roadway and the widening of four miles of I-95 to eight lanes, along with 14 bridges and three new interchanges.
This 39-mile corridor has enhanced connectivity, eased congestion, and opened new opportunities for development in Cumberland and Robeson Counties. The project improved access to Fort Bragg and completed the Strategic Highway Corridor Network route around Fayetteville—boosting freight movement and linking rural and urban employment centers.
Despite the aggressive schedule, the team maintained an excellent safety record, working over 450,000 man-hours with zero lost time incidents and no violations. Through a collaborative Progressive Design-Build approach, Branch and its partners saved the owner $20 million, accelerated the construction timeline, and preserved federal funding.
