AutoZone Distribution Center

New Kent, VA

As the Prime Civil Contractor, Branch contracted directly with the Owner for the turnkey construction of AutoZone’s new distribution center in New Kent County, Virginia. The 807,000-square-foot facility sits on a 140-acre site and was the first project to break ground within the 1,600-acre development known as New Kent City Center. Serving as AutoZone’s East Coast distribution hub, the center is located on Emmaus Church Road (Route 106), between the existing Pilot and the eastbound ramp to Interstate 64. It brings 352 new jobs to the area.

Branch’s scope of services was extensive, including the excavation of 500,000 cubic yards of earth and the construction of 18,000 linear feet of storm drainage facilities. The team installed onsite utilities with 9,800 linear feet of water lines and 6,500 linear feet of sewer lines, and built three pump stations. The project also involved the placement of 150,000 tons of aggregate, 100,000 square yards of concrete paving, and asphalt pavement markings. Branch constructed and maintained an onsite temporary concrete batch plant, self-performed concrete flatwork, and handled site clearing and de-grubbing. Additionally, they managed the construction and installation of erosion and sediment control systems and stormwater facilities, site electrical work, as well as the installation and maintenance of security gates, fencing, signage, landscaping, and irrigation.
