J. William Karbach, CEO of The Branch Group, is proud to share Governor Ralph Northam’s nominations announced Friday for his Virginia Board of Workforce Development (VBWD). We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ernie Caldwell, President of G. J. Hopkins, a Branch Group Subsidiary Company, to serve a term of four years beginning 7/1/2019 and ending on 6/30/2023. Governor Northam is focused on building a Commonwealth that works better for all people, no matter who they are or where they live. During Ernie Caldwell’s term, he and the Workforce Development Board will assist the Governor in solving real problems faced by real people. VBWD is a business-led board that acts as an advisory body to the Governor and provides strategic leadership to the state regarding the workforce development system and its efforts to create a strong workforce aligned with employer needs.
The Branch Group, Branch Civil, Branch Builds, and GJ Hopkins had a great time working with the Rescue Mission to help prepare 1,000 students in the Roanoke Valley with donated school supplies and backpacks, and 500 pairs of new shoes. Along with employee donations, The Branch Group’s charitable giving committee Branch Gives, purchased an additional $500 worth of supplies.
Our intern class of 2019 was our best yet! Being the largest class in Branch history, the 49 interns dazzled and impressed us at every turn. The Branch Group welcomes Luzia “Lu” Raleigh as the Director of our Compensation and HR Information Systems workstreams. She brings with her many years of HR and Compensation experience. Previously, she was the HR Director for CVS Pharmacy in Brazil and also for Paqueta Calcados, a Brazilian manufacturer and retailer of footwear.
Outside of class, I like to play basketball and tennis as well as paint and make tables.
